Understanding Fiber Order in Ribbon Cables:

How to determine the order of the fibers in ribbon cables and the ways the process differs from non-ribbon cable

To learn more visit: www.zulucable.com http The product video describes our selection of fiber optic Mode Conditioning cables used to connect single mode fiber equipment to existing multimode cable plants. Customers use these cables when they need to connect two pieces of equipment that use singlemode fiber, but the building may only have multimode fiber installed. These cables “condition” the singlemode side for use with singlemode equipment, SFP’s, and or GBIC modules. This allows the data to be transmitted over the multimode cable plant. We custom build these cables in 1-2 days right here in California and offer overnight delivery once the cables have build built and tested.

in 1988, the united states and the united kingdom, france, the laying of the oceans among the (tat-8) system, length 6700 km. this contains three pairs of fiber optic cable, each pair of the transmission rate 280mb / s, a distance of 67 km relay station. this is the first transatlantic communications, marks the era of undersea fiber optic cable. in 1989, across the pacific (length 13,200 km) is also building a successful, since then, across the ocean in the field of intercontinental to replace the coaxial cable, no ocean-going intercontinental laying. fiber transmission capacity, long distance between relay stations for long distance submarine communication. fiber-optic for cable than terrestrial fiber used have higher requirements; requirements of low loss, high strength, manufacturing long length, long distance relay cable, generally 50 kilometers or more, in the optical transmission performance requirements not change within 25 years. the structure of the : request to withstand intense pressure and tension, especially in deep-sea fiber optic cable (laid in the depth of 1000 meters above the sea cable), installation and maintenance operations in addition to the weight of the cable itself, but also with waves added to the cable on the dynamic stress, in such a large load conditions, the cable strain should be limited to within 0.7 ~ 0.8%; in the structural requirements of strong, light materials, but not with light metal aluminum, because aluminum and water is electrochemistry and should be caused by hydrogen, hydrogen molecules will spread to the glass fiber materials, so that larger fiber loss. therefore, it is necessary to prevent the submarine fiber optic cable within the generated hydrogen, but also to prevent the penetration of hydrogen from the external cable. for this reason, in the early 90s, developed a kind of coated carbon or titanium layer coated fiber, can prevent the penetration of hydrogen and the prevention of chemical corrosion. optical fiber connector also requires a high strength, requiring follow to maintain the original fiber strength and the original fiber surface from damage. accordance with the above requirements and features, the basic structure of submarine fiber optic cable is one or two times after coating, the optical fiber wrapped spiral to the center to strengthen the components (made with steel wire) around. typical deep-sea fiber optic cable structure: deep-sea fiber optic cable, optical fiber located in the spiral-shaped plastic frame u-shaped groove, the groove filling ointment or flexible plastic fiber core formation. core is surrounded by high-strength steel wire around the package, the wrapping process to put all gaps were filled with a waterproof material, and then in a layer of copper wire around which package, and take the welding seam to form a resistance wire and brass pressure and tension of the commonwealth, or sending away the copper conductor power flow. outside the wire and the copper tube, add another layer of polyethylene sheath. this multi-layer structure close to protect the optical fiber, to prevent breakage and to prevent the intrusion of sea water, but also to repair the installation and recovery can be under enormous tension and pressure. even so strict protection, in the late 80s was discovered in deep-sea cable polyethylene insulator bitten by sharks power failure caused by bad example. systems for remote power supply is very important along the repeaters, remote power supply depends on the work of landing bureau. digital repeater function with more than the analog repeater power consumption to a great many times, power requirements are high reliability, can not be interrupted. therefore, there are shark-infested areas outside of the would add two strips around the bag and add a layer of polyethylene outer sheath. into the 90′s, s and satellite communications have become the primary means of modern intercontinental communication. china since 1989 to the end of 1998 has been involved in 18 international construction and investment. the first landing in china’s international system was completed in december 1993 in china?? japan (cj) system. february 1996 korean submarine fiber optic cable into the opening of qingdao in china and korea, respectively tai landing length of 549 km; in november 1997, china’s participation in the construction of systems ball (flag) completed and put into operation, this is the first landed in the country’s intercontinental cable systems in britain, egypt, india, thailand, japan, landed in 12 countries and regions, full more than 27,000 km, of which the chinese section is 622 km; by china telecom and singapore telecom company co-sponsored by the asia-europe undersea cable system, extension of being built to connect the system in asia, europe and oceania, in 33 countries and regions, landing a total length of 38,000 km, is the world’s longest undersea fiber optic cable, advanced 8 wavelength division multiplexing technology, the design capacity of the trunk route up to 40gb / s, in our shanghai and shantou, two landing, completed by the end of 1999 opened. borne intercontinental submarine cable communication business volume increased year by year, more than the volume of business of satellite communications as the backbone of modern intercontinental communications.

Say ‘Hello’ To Fiber Optic Cables And Goode To Copper Cables

Say ‘Hello’ To Fiber Optic Cables And Goode To Copper Cables

Article by James Croydon

In today’s world copper wired cables are being replaced by fiber optic cables. Fiber optic cables are spanning the long distances between phone systems and also provide backbone for many network systems. The three types of most commonly used fiber optic cables are single mode, multi mode and plastic fiber optic cables.

Fiber optic cables provide high speed-up into gigabytes and possess a larger bandwidth that is large carrying capacity. Fiber optic cables enable signals to be transmitted further without needing to be “refreshed” or strengthened. Fiber optic cables cost less to maintain and provide greater resistance to electromagnetic noise such as radios or other nearby cables.

In fiber optics light pulses are used to transmit information. The principle of ‘total internal reflection’ is applied in fiber optic cables. When angle of incidence exceeds the critical value light cannot get out of the glass. This simple principle is used in fiber optic cables to transmit information down fiber lines in the form of light pulses.

Fiber optic cables are usually much smaller and lighter as compared to other cables. Fiber optic cables are also easier to handle as well as easier to install. Fiber optic cables use lesser duct space but fiber optic cables can be installed without ducts also.

Fiber optic cables offer more benefits than traditional copper wire or coaxial cables. As the basic fiber is made up of glass, fiber optic cables do not corrode. They can be buried in all kinds of soil forms and can be exposed to all kind of atmospheres as well.

Since the only carrier in fiber optic cables is light, there is no possibility of spark from a broken cable wire. Thus fiber optic cables leave no room for fire hazards as well as no room for electric shocks to the person repairing broken fiber. Fiber optic cables can prove to ideal for secure communication system as they are difficult to tap.

Fiber optic cables are made up of transparent glass or plastic fibers which allow light to be guided from one end to the other with minimal loss. Single mode fiber optic cables give a higher transmission rate and used for long distances. On the other hand multimode fiber optic cables give high bandwidth at high speeds over medium distances. Moreover, in multimode fiber optic cables, light waves are dispersed into numerous paths or modes and travel at very high speeds.

First commercial fiber optical system was installed in 1977 and since then it has increased at a rapid rate all over the globe. Today most of the telephone companies prefer to use optical fiber throughout their system as the backbone architecture and as long distance connections between city phone systems.

Fiber optic cables are used in local area network which is collective group of computers or computer systems connected to each other allowing sharing of programs, software and databases.

Fiber Optic Cables – Basic Designs and Exclusive Cable Connector Kinds

Fiber Optic Cables – Basic Designs and Exclusive Cable Connector Kinds

Article by Conrad Bailey

Fiber optics is the technology employed in order to transport data from one location to another. It is extremely applicable in computer technologies or telecommunication schemes. It works with the aid of a thin and flexible glass or the aid of plastic tubes in the manner of optical fibers. With the occurrence of modulated light waves, the coded pulses of information are transmitted. Overall, the aid of fiber optic cables becomes applicable in these scientific and technological businesses. In order to understand what fiber optic cables are, it is ideal to examine what comprises it. These cables are conceived in a variety of ways. Furthermore, one must also get an impression about the special types of cables relevant in fiber optics.Designs for a fiber optic cableMeasuring a fiber optic cable is made through two of its chief components – the external core and the cladding layer. Essentially, the magnitude is 62.5/125 microns for its external core diameter and 8/125 microns for its cladding. In this regard, there are four components to take note of – these are the ferrule, cable, connector housing and coupling tool. The ferrule is regarded as a device for fiber configuration. It is comprised of a thin cylinder kind and is generally produced out of metal, ceramic or plastic materials. Next to the ferrule is the cable, the component that offers correct access to the fiber. It is attached to the third portion known as the connector housing. The housing also has the ferrule that often broadens up to the last portion for fiber optic cables – the coupling gadget. Coupling tools often come in alignment sleeves and are applicable in fusing connectors.Special forms of connector for a fiber optic cableThe aforesaid fiber cable connector design is principal. There are companies that involve special connector designs though. One design is recognized as the subminiature Type A or SMA. It makes use of the screw-on means quality. The SMA has diverse designs including those with straight screw connectors and smaller connection mechanisms usually positioned at the connector’s ends.Fiber optic cables also contain the special kind identified as the ST or straight-tip. This one relies on a bayonet mount lock, a flexible link that can either be disconnected then refastened with much ease. Of course, the square connector or SC is also extremely chosen especially because it averts crossing of fibers during installation. This one is easily distinguishable to the consumer as it has a square tip.

Getting To Know The Parts Of Fiber Optic Cables

Getting To Know The Parts Of Fiber Optic Cables

Article by John Limbocker

We know Fiber Optic Cables are changing the limits today in telecommunications, television, and data systems. These new technologies offer many advantages over more traditional systems, such as coaxial cables and metal wire. In order to understand what it is that makes these systems so much better in so many applications. It is important to first understand how these cables are made and operate.

Optical fibers for telecommunication consist of three components. These components are the core, cladding, and the coating or sometimes referred to as the jacket. These components are arranged in concentric circles, or layers, starting at the center of the interior of the cable.

The first layer, found at the center of the cable, is relevantly termed the core. This is the part of the cable in which the light signals are transmitted. There are different types of optical fibers which range in diameter. In general, today’s industry uses optical fibers with diameters of 8.3, 50, and 62.5 micrometers. The average diameter of a human hair is 70 micrometers. The light signal travels through this core, which is protected and shielded by a second layer called the cladding.

The cladding surrounds the core and serves two main purposes. Firstly, it protects the core and the signal from any external interference. Secondly, the cladding provides an internal reflective boundary, designed to keep the signal contained within the core of the fiber. This design is commonly referred to as “total internal reflection” and directs the signal in the desired direction, while preventing nearly any of the data from being lost.

The core and cladding are manufactured together as a single piece of silica glass with slightly different compositions, and cannot be separated from one another. The glass does not have a hole in the core, as you may envision. Rather, it is completely solid throughout.

The final and outermost layer is called the coating. Sometimes, or sometimes it is called the jacket. This coating is typically an ultraviolet or UV light-cured acryl are applied during the manufacturing process. The purpose of it is to provide physical and environmental protection for the fiber. During the installation process, this coating is stripped away from the cladding in order to allow proper operation.

With the use of Fiber Optic Cables we have the advantage of speed. It has a much cleaner signal than conventional copper cabling and can transmit signals at more than 10GB per second. To put it into perspective, fiber optic cabling is to digital information as electrical cabling is to analog information.

What to know when buying Fiber Optic Cables

What to know when buying Fiber Optic Cables

Article by Edgar Allen

Being potential consumers a bargain is the thing we’re always looking for when wanting to buy something. This is no different when we’re considering a possible purchase of fiber optic cables or related accessories. It’s only logical to want to make sure you are paying the fairest price but at the same time getting accessories and supplies that meet the industry standard of quality. There are various options that one can go about in acquiring fiber optic cabling and related items, and no way is really better than the other it’s really all about what is going to be best for that particular individual who wants to buy fiber optic equipment.

Expectations of what’s good and not good in a retailer of fiber optic cables vary from person to person and this also applies to the level of experience of the shopper as well. In this article we’ll be more than glad to give you some guidance on how to go about this the best way. For instance one way to purchase this equipment is to go to a retailer in person a specialty electronics store sells cabling and fiber optic technology is no stranger to these folks. A benefit of this method is that you get your merchandise on the spot and don’t have to wait for a delivery. Of course they have to have the item in their inventory at the time but many these places as well as the big box retailers like a Best Buy have the foresight of either running a website or having a special order option in store to get you what you need.

There are variables though that will affect what kind of bargain you are getting on your item if that’s your primary criteria. Sometimes an item will be on a special sale price but most competitors will match that price so usually that factor balances things out. However, service plans (if available) can vary from store to store. So sometimes an item you pay 10 dollars more at one store may end up costing the same price at another or possibly even less than the same thing advertised at a cheaper price but with a higher fee for extended service. Since fiber optic cables and their related accessories are a very important purchase that you’re making it’s always best to do your home work on each vendor’s rates for items and miscellaneous services regardless of whether they are internet or in store.

That’s another thing we want to address real quick with internet purchases are shipping costs. Sometimes these fees factor into your final price, of course if you order is going to have a high cost sometimes you’ll get a break. Also if you’re purchasing from an online retailer in your home state you have to keep in mind that sales tax is more than likely going to factor in. So unless what you’re looking for can’t be special ordered or found in store you may not want to just rush into an internet retailer when looking for fiber optic cables.

This isn’t to knock internet purchases because they are a valuable service in every sense of the word but sometimes the traditional conventions of purchasing may work out better in the long run. Also if you’re a foreign resident or live in a U.S. Territory you may have to pay yet another surcharge or unfortunately not be eligible to purchase fiber optic cables or any other equipment from an internet vendor. However this is typically rare to have happen.

We thank you for your time in learning about a few of the building blocks in purchasing fiber optic cables and related accessories. We wish you the best of luck in your search and recommend consulting website search engines and talking to specialty electronic stores to find the right fiber optic cable and associated equipment.
