Core network traffic continues to grow unabated at or near Moores law, a doubling of traffic every year. Broadband access and services continue to drive telecoms and are a critical part of the economic engine despite the difficult global environment. For service providers there is a delicate balance between driving more cost reduction while planning for cost effective increase in capacity into the future, avoiding frequent network renewal. Mr. Morin will discuss the variances in global operator trends and provide an outlook on the innovations that are necessary for economic scaling of optical networks.

EPON Optical Network PHS times of Copper (map)-EPON, light of Copper, PHS – Communications Industry

Article by hi joiney

Introduction: This paper discusses the current use of Copper-optical EPON under the premise of the original use of PHSOE technology transfer with the copper wire PHS Business network transformation of light to avoid to keep copper PHS network transmission caused by “light into the copper, no withdrawal” embarrassing situations. Today’s trend is also necessary to reform on the PHS transmission network it? Look at the Internet under a very typical post: “Using the olt + onu on , the original PHS base stations, how do? If you use the built-in voice IAD of ONU to solve the problem, then It had access through the copper (ISDN) of the PHS base stations, how do? If onu only solve part of broadband, voice also use the original copper, then that is the trend of light into a copper refundable. Ha ha! hard, small Linktone network is not 12 years back can be completed. personally think, in a PHS light into the area can only reclaim the copper. ” 3G Telecommunications restructuring Mobile One-way fees, all the important technical and policy factors into the mountains of PHS business seems to the point where poor water complex, and recent rumors of a significant reduction in the PHS users seem to confirm the judge, however, PHS business and user In the return to a reasonable level but should be kept after a certain size than the present state of small but still substantial, imagine nearly 80 million PHS users are able to cutover once it? PHS base stations to 1.6 million nationwide, said scrapping the retirement? A large number of special user group is we want to turn they answer it? Pregnancy as additional households per year, and now statistics is the first half of pregnancy, almost 80% of women will replace the original PHS mobile phone, when the PHS mobile phone all into what Communicate To meet the requirements of their Low-E? Therefore, the PHS business in the next 3-5 years should not be suddenly stopped, PHS will continue to run, but the face of EPON FTTH technology for the major reconstruction, mainly composed of PHS base stations by the twisted pair to the Board end of the transmission network seems to be a stumbling block for FTTH, carriers will want to light when the steam head back into the copper wire are all digging will come to know an copper wire in two dug, the cost is too high, so FTTH can be passing the time in hand will also be light PHS transmission network of Copper is of course necessary. What is PHSOE? Why is PHSOE? PHSOE (PHS overEthernet), developed for the Chengdu Si Dawei way through the circuit is really against the second floor with a reliable Ethernet data port of a U PHS technology, the use of the technology can EPON, Fiber Transceiver , MSTP / MSAP optical network such as Ethernet and reliable data transmission PHS U port. If so, why did we choose PHSOE technology has become the light of the PHS network of Copper’s main technical means? First: the cost of the PHS network transformation and even as far as possible without spending a small cost; Second: to use the existing fiber optical network without occupying resources; again: to provide for its reconstruction is a common interface to a wide range of coverage. We now analyze the traditional PHS network transmission network and platform in the EPON network after transformation with PHSOE the network diagram: Figure 1: Traditional PHS twisted pair transmission Figure 2: In the EPON technology transfer platform through PHSOE PHS network transmission plans Through the network diagram to analyze whether we meet the above conditions, 1, while the implementation of the FTTH EPON network without the need to use to build the network, and dig out the high twisted pair resources can be recycled at the same time when the EPON network installation need not repeat the construction or installation, thus greatly reducing the cost; 2, and all the light into the retirement program is not the same as copper, the technology has been built only Ethernet optical network platform without extra a fiber-optic; 3 , PHSOE need network interface is Ethernet interface, and the interface for most of the light Network equipment Provide extensive coverage and easy construction. Based on the above factors PHS network transformation chosen PHSOE technology. How? Circuit against the clock really to ensure good transmission delay jitter and can only transmit timely PHS voice service, taking into account the Ethernet technology is based on store and forward mechanism, two mechanisms for achieving this will determine its difficult to protect the transmission delay and clock extraction, and therefore extremely difficult to achieve the time. Our concrete implementation is achieved using SW1304F chip, the chip to achieve a good U-port Ethernet-based circuit emulation and integration into the U population control program, in the realization of PHSOE related equipment only in their peripheral accessories U Ethernet port and a simple circuit can.

BBG Communications: Internet in Canada

BBG Communications: Internet in Canada

Article by Sean Hummer

In terms of Internet usage, Canada is ranked number 11 worldwide with, according to BBG Communications, 20.45 million people having access to the Internet, or 63.5% of the entire population. More than half or 53.6% of all Canadians access the Web through a high-speed network, was above the rate in the U.S. which is just about a third of 33.8% of the population. Moreover, Canadians go online more frequently as compared to Americans. According to BBG, 48% of those who access the Web do so a minimum of thrice daily.

Recently, interest in researching online markets has grown. Companies are willing to shell out hundreds of thousands of dollars for market information, opinion surveys, and the like. Happily, one can use the Internet itself to obtain the said information.

Web use

Canadians use the web in comparable ways to users in other English speaking nations, particularly the United States. Google, Yahoo!, and MSN which are recognized the world over are also the most visited websites in Canada. However, Canadians diverge from American Internet users in a number of important respects. The social networking facility Facebook is far more widely used than MySpace in Canada, which is the reverse of the U.S. situation. In Canada too, Kijiji comes close to Craigslist in number of users, very dissimilar to the United States where Craigslist is virtually unrivalled.

The most visited Canadian sites are websites of the biggest Canadian news networks which all well represented on the web. As reported by conScore in February 2008, the sites most visited by Canadians are the websites of Quebecor Media, chiefly Canoe.ca, with CTVglobemedia including globeandmail.com and CTV.ca at a very close second place.

File sharing

The OECD says Canada ranks first place worldwide in terms of the figure of file sharers computed per capita. Moreover, this Canadian figure is continuously on the increase which contrasts with the situation in the U.S. where the number of file sharers is declining. This development bring into focus the legal status of file sharing.

Canadian laws on copyright are uncertain about whether file trading is allowed or not. As a general principle, the Copyright Act of Canada prohibits unauthorized copying or distribution of copyrighted material, whether the offender intends to profit from it or merely makes personal use of the material. But this rule allows for a number of exceptions such as those for fair dealing, which involves copying an insignificant fraction of protected materials for academic, critical, or journalistic or reportorial purposes.

Moreover, the Canadian statute permits making copies of musical or audio materials for the private enjoyment of the copier, so that this act is not considered infringement of copyright. Since the tax on blank recording media is disbursed to recording companies and musicians, the said state-of-affairs is legitimized. Thus, regarding protected books, movies, and software, it is clear that Canadian law prohibits wholesale downloading and uploading of them; but with regards to music files, the legal prohibition is less certain.

Global-leading optical communications experts to take centre stage at ECOC exhibition Market Focus

Article by RealWire

Google, Huawei, JDSU, Ericsson and Nokia Siemens Networks are just a handful of the industry-leading organisations now confirmed for the Market Focus seminars at this year’s European Conference on Optical Communications (ECOC) exhibition.

Held from 19 to 21 September at Geneva’s Palexpo, the Market Focus forms an integral market level presentation arena within the exhibition, featuring Tier 1 network equipment manufacturers, the principle FTTH body and high-profile CEOs and analysts. Sponsored by Opnext, it has developed over the past six years to become a focal point of the show, which is the largest of its kind in Europe.

This year marks the return of Google’s Senior Network Architect Bikash Koley, with an industry insight on “Towards Programmable Networks”, and also welcomes first-time contributors from Cable Comcast, Inphi and Optomera.

All presentations fit into six key Market Focus topic areas – the largest number to date – which are agreed by the industry panel that forms the ECOC 2011 Advisory Committee. The sessions will cover topics such as long haul optical transmission, data centre and interconnect technologies, mass-market broadband fibre access, optical network agility, packet optical transport and test and measurements.

“It has again proved a real challenge to select the final line-up from the submissions received but we feel that we have a truly world-class programme for visitors,” said Beverley Lucas, Group Event Manager for Nexus Business Media, organisers of the ECOC exhibition. “Over the three days we are set to hear from over 20 leading industry optical communications experts on key trends and issues, creating a lively platform for discussion and debate. With the Market Focus speakers now confirmed and the exhibition floor space almost sold out already, we are expecting this year’s show to be a great success.”

The presentations, which take place on the exhibition floor, will open on Monday 19 at 12.15 with a session dedicated to long haul optical transmission, featuring top executives from Oclaro, Ovum, NEL America, Ericsson, Cable Comcast and Opnext.

The Tuesday morning session, beginning at 10.20, will turn the spotlight on data centre and interconnect technologies along with mass-market broadband fibre access. Bikash Koley, from industry heavyweight Google will be joined by FTTH Council Europe Communications Director Nadia Babaali and Chair of Business Committee Paolo Sebben, who will give separate seminars on the outlook of FTTH in Europe and financing FTTH networks. Inphi’s VP of Marketing Siddharth Sheth will also address ‘Accelerating the Mass Transition of 100Gbe in the Data Centre’, while Brad Smith of Light Counting will focus on active optical cables and NeoPhotonics Ferris Lipscomb will explore next generation FTTH.
